The Seasonal Approach to Applying Makeup

Just like clothing and footwear choices vary throughout the year, the seasonal approach to applying makeup is equally important. Whether it is summer, spring, winter or fall, reflect the constant changes in your eyeshadow, lipstick and blush colors, even if they are more subtle in some areas than others.
Red is often right
With today's spray-on tans, it is often difficult to tell when surfing season has ended, but for most people, it is when complexions lighten up and even look a little pale. This is the perfect time for red lips to perk things up. Remember to find red shades that work for you, as red lipstick also works against you if it is combined with other heavy makeup or your skin is more pink and you chose a bright orange-based shade.
No time for shine
There are times when a dewy look is good for skin, but unless you have lots of practice or your own makeup artist, you probably end up looking a little more like you sat too long in your morning sauna. Matte finishes are preferable to shine most anytime. Choose matte foundations and oil-free moisturizers for day time and apply bronzers and highlighting powder for radiance.
Smoke
No deception here, smokey eyes are on fire. From the runway to reality shows to your bathroom mirror, smokey eyes get wild with dark plums, blacks and every shade of gray you can imagine. With liner added to the top and bottom of your eyes, smokey gets you noticed without any alarms.
Appreciate the seasons and learn to love the makeup changes that come with each one. It is an opportunity to experiment with new colors, try a new approach or simply change up your look to match the weather.
